I’ve never come across a book that had that. However, to me, it is indeed a cliche.

I recommend you trust your instincts and steer clear.

I don’t think I’ve ever read it in a book before, but I’ve seen it in movies/TV shows, so it is fairly over used…although, you could probably make it original, I’m not sure how, though.
