I have a tall bookcase much like this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5515900.

Since its height made my room look smaller, I set it lengthwise by moving it 45 degrees, or the longest side parallel to the floor. The problem is, the shelves are now partitioned vertically. I was thinking to add a shelf to the middle so that I could make 10 cubes from the 5 shelves. How would I go about doing that?

I have a wonderful affectionate male kitten but he’s a little terror. I understand he’s a kitten and will grow out of some stuff but how do I keep him from climbing furniture? He’s knocking over vases, pictures, etc.

He’s finally grown out of the climbing the curtains stage, so I’m happy about that. lol
I’ll try the double sided tape and balloons! Also, I’ll do the squirt bottle when I can since I’ve not done it like I really should. The mist spray is the only thing that works and I can’t always run over to him in time. (my cat likes the shower so water doesn’t bug him unless he gets beyond soaked) He has a cat condo and is allowed on the sofa. I just need to train him on all the other stuff. lol. Thanks for the great suggestions! oh, and I have a girl kitty who is an angel so he’s got a friend :)

I would like to refinish a black high gloss bookcase with gold trim. The gold trim, I think is glued to the top edge. Does anyone know how to get the trim off?? Does anyone have any helpful suggestions as to how I can stain this mahogany and where to buy new cabinet knobs and drawer pulls?
Thanks so much

I am trying to put a hidden bookcase door in a wall that will be 3 foot wide and 80 inches high. It will hinge in to a storage area. The shelves will be six inches deep. Looking at it, one would think it was a bookcase not a hidden door. Any ideas on how to construct this.

We have a room in our house that is more of an office/study. It is not a huge room but the ceilings are quite high. I have always thought about a huge book case. Kinda like you see in movies where you need a ladder. (but not a whole wall).

How tall can i built my book case without fearing it tip over, or is there a certain ratio where if i build it deep enough it will be okay. ok - dreaming i would have a 15′ book case but how tall could i really realistically build it for a home to be safe not being a master finish carpenter?

I’m making a dining table for friends and at one side of the table, I would like to make a bookcase between the legs. I have once seen a picture of a similar design but have lost it. Now, I’m looking for pictures or drawings to get inspiration and ideas on how to design it.
