How to refinish black high gloss bookcase?

I would like to refinish a black high gloss bookcase with gold trim. The gold trim, I think is glued to the top edge. Does anyone know how to get the trim off?? Does anyone have any helpful suggestions as to how I can stain this mahogany and where to buy new cabinet knobs and drawer pulls?

    The gloss by either sanding or using paseo deglosser since you want to stain and apply it until you can be found at.
