How can i get the stickiness off my bookcases that I put too much varnish on?

I did not sand it before i put the varnish on it which be the problem, but is there a way i can get the stickiness off the bookcases without sanding it now that it is too sticky? it’s been about 5 weeks since i painted it…still sticky

      You could try a very fine steel wool, and turpentine or mineral spirits. This might cause a kind of hazy surface that would have to be finished again. But, it should take up all the extra linseed oil in the varnish that won’t dry (that’s what’s causing the stickiness).
