Organizing Your Home Office
Filed Under bookcases | Comments Off
When it comes to running your own business you wear many hats. You are the boss, the supervisor, the secretary and more. With all of the jobs you do to run your business you need your time to be well spent. Because of this it is very important that your home office be well organized. If you have a meeting concerning a financial loan that could make or break your business expansion, you need to know where your business plan is and be able to get any other documents or materials needed A.S.A.P.
Organization is basically everything having a place and the items being put in their place after use. If you have children you have probably told them to put their backpack up in a designated space so that they can grab it quick and hit the school bus, so they are not late. It never fails at least once they miss the bus because they have spent time searching for a folder or their left sneaker. We as adults certainly do not want this scenario to be a part of our lives.
To prevent this type of chaos form occurring you need to think storage. Bookcases, shelves, filing cabinets and storage containers all hold the items you need. Having a container or storage item to place each item will keep you from losing important documents or phone numbers. Once everything has its own space be sure to label everything. Labels allow you to be more efficient with your time. You can take one look at your desk organizer and see that your weekly report folder is on the second shelf or that the contract file is in the top shelf of your filing cabinet.
You will be able to grab what you need and get out the door. No wasted time or frustration of searching for needed items. When your office is properly organized it also gives off a sense of peace and tranquility. You walk into your office it is clean, tidy and everything is in its place. If it were the opposite you would walk in and see papers covering your desk, the trash is overflowing, reports in folders and binders are in stacks over here and over there. Chaos, nerve racking and sweat inducing panic is what this room screams at you.
Running your own business carries enough stress inducers. You deserve to allow your life to be as tranquil and relaxed as possible. If your office operates smoothly thanks to organization you will be at peace. You will be able to be calm, cool and collected at your next business meeting and what is more impressive than a business man or woman who has everything all together and a smile on his or her face.

Bookcases and storage systems
Filed Under bookcases | Comments Off
ity bookcase is one that is practical, flexible and has a good functional design, so that every family member can have his or her own spot in it, the important element of an organized home office is having the right storage solutions.
An enormous range of bookcases and bookshelves, cabinets and libraries, can be bought online, for at home or in the office, they all are available to you from a multitude of outlets.
Bookcases are one of the most accessible and commonly built projects. Whether you want to buy modern or rather classic, fancy or rather cheap bookshelves, wooden, metal, or other bookcases, who doesn’t need or want open storage for their homes?
Bookcases include adjustable shelves that adjust in 1 1/4-inch increments and optional hinged doors that open to 110 degrees, and pocketing that slide into the cabinet, which is also available.
The very permanence of a built-in bookcase custom designed and stocked to your needs and tastes adds to a house’s character and substance in a way that freestanding bookcases simply can’t.
Besides familiar locations like lining a wall or flanking a fireplace, a bookcase can create an alcove, surround a window or door, sit under a stairway, follow you up the steps, even gracefully divide a room in two.

Want to build a bookcase Window seat?
Filed Under bookcases | 3 Comments
Just bought a loft that has AMAZING windows. They start at 4 feet high and go to 12 feet.
My idea is this between a wall and a “column” wall is one of these said windows.
There is 12 inches of cove like space. The window is also another 6 inches from the wall.
I want to build a Bookcase in that space that matches with the windowsill then put cushions on top and have it secure enough to sit upon. I would be using a small ladder type thing to get to the top of the seat.
Any suggestions

Choosing the Right Type of Bookcases
Filed Under bookcases | Comments Off
Virtually every home i have gone to uses some kind of bookcases, and this does not depend on whether they collect books or not. Used effectively in terms of space, orientation and utilization they can surely look like works of art. You can make them as glamorous and as unique as your imagination can allow. Bookcases have a long history and for any house, they have become such standard pieces that you barely notice them. Most people are able to blend them with the existing home decor.
Books first appeared in the world as scrolls. These scrolls were usually inscribed by hand and so their production was quite costly. Religious institutions, libraries and ancient universities prized the books highly. These necessitated the need for specialized containers or boxes which were easily accessible for easy referencing. Initially the shelved containers were much deeper and separated into many compartments for easier access. The shelving was usually hidden away in closets that blended with the home decor or in private study rooms.
The invention of the printing press by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440 made books more common. The need for their storage also become more pronounced. The oldest shelves in existence are believed to be in the Bodleian Library at Oxford University, they have been in place since the end of the 16th century. What surprises me though is the fact that the initial designs made then have remained till today, and are used as a standard for the design of the modern bookcases.
When it comes to choosing the right type of bookcases, there are various considerations that need to be made. i.e. the kind of material to be used, the type of finish, the make or the style, the vertical height, the width, depth, etc. The most common end products available in the market today includes, light, medium, dark, or even black wood.
Apart from the standard and decorative bookcases, you also find cube units, corner units, or the barrister. In fact, in terms of available finishes, you could only be limited by your imagination.
